SITE VISIT TO TAKREER’S
ABU DHABI REFINERY
The World Refining Association are pleased to announce the
site visit to TAKREER’s Abu Dhabi Refinery.
After the discovery of oil in Abu Dhabi in 1958 and the first export
shipments of crude oil in 1962, plans were drawn up for the construction
of the refinery with a capacity of 15,000 barrels per stream per
day to meet growing demand.
Construction of the Refinery commenced in 1973 with the project
costing an initial sum of $45 million. The Refinery was inaugurated
in April 1976.
It is with a great pleasure that on 28 November 2007 The World Refining
Association and TAKREER will provide the opportunity for a limited
number of conference attendees to participate within an optional
site visit to the Abu Dhabi Refinery located in Umm Al Nar.
The trip will enable participants to view facilities and technologies
employed at the refinery, taking in relevant presentations and
explanations.
